meet Josh
With over two decades of experience spanning the U.S. Army, academia, and industry, Josh brings a rare combination of discipline, innovation, and systems thinking to every project he leads. He is the founder and CEO of Bravo Team, an engineering and software innovation firm specializing in custom machine design, automation, PCB development, and advanced R&D. Since 2018, Bravo Team has partnered with Fortune 500 companies, OEMs, and manufacturers to solve complex engineering challenges and bring high-impact solutions to market.
But Josh’s story didn’t start in the boardroom. He spent eight years in the U.S. Army, where he developed the structured mindset, operational discipline, and problem-solving grit that still inform his leadership style. He earned his BSME from Georgia Tech, then completed his MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University, where he studied under Tom Kurfess as a graduate assistant at the International Center for Automotive Research (ICAR) in Greenville, South Carolina. Josh’s deep technical authority is rooted in nine years as a professor at the University of South Carolina and UNC-Charlotte, where he was tenured in 2021. During this period, he secured and led millions of dollars in funded research, alongside publishing over 50 peer-reviewed papers that pushed boundaries in mechatronics, advanced manufacturing, and engineering systems integration.

In launching Bravo Team, Josh set out to build a company modeled on special forces principles—agile, mission-driven, and built for precision execution. His entrepreneurial focus has always centered on identifying what technologies are available and how to integrate them—especially when it comes to solving hardware-intensive problems. If an engineering opportunity demands a physical solution, he and his team specialize in turning those challenges into real, working systems.
Josh’s work addresses one of the most common challenges in innovation: it is rarely a question of what to pursue, but how to execute effectively. His approach provides the tools, technical leadership, and engineering ecosystem needed to move bold ideas forward—translating vision into momentum with speed and precision. It’s a model for operationalizing innovation, not just theorizing it.
At the core of this model is a living network of elite engineers, academic researchers, and industry professionals. This is not a static contact list—it is a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem built to solve meaningful problems at speed and scale. Through this network, Josh serves as a gateway to specialized expertise on demand, helping companies prototype faster, validate confidently, and launch with clarity.
Today, his mission is simple: Help engineers become better leaders, help companies build smarter systems, and help people find meaning in their work. He’s passionate about mentoring other founders on how to lead with clarity, scale with confidence, and stay grounded along the way.
When he’s not in the lab, on the shop floor, or in the strategy room, Josh is behind the mic—joining podcasts and sharing unfiltered insights on engineering, leadership, automation, and the real journey of building something that matters.
